THE SPiN
COMMiTTEE
Kate is a PhD candidate in Northwestern's Neuroscience program. Her research concerns rare genetic impacts on psychiatric endophenotypes. The recipient of a Sage Commons Congress 2012 Young Investigator Award, Kate is dedicated to the pursuit of policy solutions promoting open science practices, as well as fostering free dialog between scientists and the public. She has a very soft spot in her heart for giraffes.
Stephanie is a second year PhD student in biomedical engineering. Her research focuses on the development of neuroprosthetics. Her interests also include neuroethics, especially issues revolving around biotechnology and personhood, as well as resource use in the laboratory setting. Her future ambitions include a desire to work as a clinical researcher, or to enter the policy world to help inform regulation.
Daniel is a recent graduate of Northwestern University School of Law. He currently works under Drs. Lei Wang and Hans Breiter in the Department of Psychiatry using computational neuroanatomy techniques to investigate neurodegenerative diseases and neuropsychiatric illness. Daniel's other professional interests include neuromarketing and cognitive training. In his free time, he enjoys working out, cooking, snowboarding, sailing, fishing, pool/billiards, darts, and Settler's of Catan.
Evan is a graduate student in the Driskill Graduate Program currently studying immunology in Dr. Bill Muller's lab. His main interests relating to science policy revolve around science advocacy and public outreach. In his spare time, Evan enjoys running, watching the Chicago Bulls, and playing blues guitar.
